Bao Shichen, also name as Shisheng, with the word Shenbo, the name of Juanweng, and the name of Xiaojuanyouge Waishi. A native of Jing County, Anhui. Born in the 40th year of Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty (1775); died in the fifth year of Xianfeng (1855). Agronomy, agricultural economics.

Bao Shichen’s hometown, Jing County, Anhui Province, is a barren mountainous area, and his family is very poor. When he was a child, he studied with his father for "eight to six rhymes", planted vegetables and learned about farming. Although he is very miserable, he really likes this kind of farming and studying life. At that time, China's feudal society was already showing signs of decline, coupled with the invasion of imperialism and the corruption of feudal bureaucrats, it shocked him greatly. At the age of twelve or thirteen, Bao Shichen was willing to do something useful for the society. Even if you don't become famous, you don't care. At the age of 18, he left home to work as a tutor. During the period, he read part of the "Rizhilu (日知录)" by Gu Yanwu, a university scholar who advocated "practical management" in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. I admired Gu Yanwu's character, Gu's thoughts on the world and his usual thoughts. His thoughts fit perfectly, so he strengthened his determination to work for the benefit of the world. His whole life followed this path of "practical management for practical use". Visited Wuhu at the age of 19 and learned about Cheng Shichen from the Zhongjiang Academy. Cheng appreciated his talents. He recommended Song Rong on Huining Road. It was a long drought without rain. Song Rong wanted to see Bao Shichen’s talents and ambitions. , Ordered him to write the punish the drought. Since Bao Shichen never forgets the sufferings of the people, he wrote and wrote, and he won the praise of Song Rong, which was a good story for a while. When I was 22-25 years old, I went to Hubei, Hunan, Sichuan, Zhejiang and other places, and found that the magistrate was good at paying for profit, which was extremely worried. At the age of 26, he traveled in and out of Suzhou when he was away from Fuyu Mountain during the summer, and repeatedly pointed out the pros and cons of Chen Caoyun. At the age of 27, he wrote a concise agricultural book "County and County Agricultural Policy (郡县农政)". At the age of 28, he wrote a long essay "Review on Shipping to the South of Cao (海运南漕议)". After reading Gu Yanwu's "Rizhilu (日知录)" this year, he admired Gu Yanwu even more and said that for thousands of years, scholars have been the first to recommend Gu Yanwu. Juren at the age of 34. In the following decades, the main tour was in the Jiangnan area, and many times he wrote to the local chief executive, criticizing the current ills and proposing reform measures. At the age of 48, You Mu worked at the Chengxuan Department of Zhili Province, and he was very concerned about water conservancy in his jurisdiction. He wrote the article "Remembering the Zhili Waterway (记直隶水道)". At the age of 6l, he was appointed as a first-class magistrate in Jiangxi. Four years later, he was appointed as a county magistrate in Xinyu. His political achievements were outstanding, but he was too sharp and offended the rich and powerful, so he was banished from office a year later. In his later years, he lived in Nanjing and lived his life by selling Chinese characters.

In the long and turbulent life experience, he used his main energy to study agricultural technology and agricultural economic issues. There are many books in his life, mainly "Counties and Counties Agricultural Policy (郡县农政)", he is a visionary agronomist.

Bao Shichen's life has been all over most of China, and he has always been the first priority in his travels. He never cares about personal fame or gain or loss. For him, his official career is just a better opportunity to benefit the people. Although he considers himself a Confucian, he blatantly despises the Confucianism's consistent anti-speaking propositions, repeatedly claiming that he is good at speaking out, and saying that this is not a shortcoming, but it is precisely a major advantage. Most of what he has learned in his life is here. When he read Gu Yanwu's "Rizhilu (日知录)", he tried his best to exaggerate the proposition of practical application of the classics, and tried to put it into action. He put an unusual bomb into the academic atmosphere dedicated to the fine textual research of Qianjiapu. Tufu, who was involved in traditional academic activities, was suddenly alert. His thinking influenced later thinkers, such as Wei Yuan and Gong Zizhen. Although they were not as sharp and integrated as the latter, they were one of the few sober ones after all. Bao Shichen is not only an agronomist and agricultural economist, but also a very keen thinker.
