Chen Qian was born in the early Ming Dynasty, his birth and death dates are unknown. His courtesy name was Shiqian, his nickname was Na'an Yi, and he was a native of Gusu (now Suzhou, Jiangsu Province). Living in the capital, he can write regular script and is gorgeous and charming. He is famous for his fake calligraphy works of Zhao Mengfu. The ancient paper dyed at that time was forged into Zhao's book, but the original paper cannot be identified. He also imitated Zhao in his paintings and boasted of being thoughtful and considerate. Critics said that he imitated Zhao's paintings as "six or seventy percent wonderful".
