Chen Qin was a painter of the Ming Dynasty, also known as Ziye and also known as Hengya Taoist. A native of Shangyuan (now Nanjing, Jiangsu Province), his birth and death years are unknown. A descendant of the king of Annan Kingdom (Vietnam), he came to China to escape the war during the Yongle period. He is good at painting, including landscapes, flowers, bamboo branches, and calligraphy. He studied under Zhong Yao and Erwang, and is especially good at calligraphy. The running script of "Self-written Poems" is quaint and smooth, graceful and free-spirited, and contains the artistic conception of chapters and chapters.
