The record of the statue of Yuan Xiang of the 20th grade of Longmen, the full name is the record of the statue of Maitreya built by Yuan Xiang, the king of Beihai, for the safety of mother and son.



  The statue is 88 centimeters high and 42 centimeters wide. It is a historical record that Yuan Xiang moved the capital to Luoyang with Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty during his southern expedition.

 

  The statue niche is located on the north wall of Guyang Cave of Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang, above the statue of Yuchi, the wife of Changle King Qiu Mulingliang. The niche is 138 cm high, 102 cm wide and 17 cm deep. It is a medium-sized cave in Guyang Cave. The main Buddha in the niche is Maitreya. The Bodhisattvas on both sides stand with their hands clasped together. The lintel of the round arched niche is engraved with fifteen heavenly beings holding flower ropes.

 



  The statue record records that the niche was dedicated on the 11th day of the 12th year of the 18th year of Taihe, and was completed on September 23rd of the 22nd year of Taihe, which lasted nearly three years and nine months.
